Happy August..

Its hard to believe that the summer is drawing to a close. My youngest is already back up at the High School. I guess being the Battalion Commander comes with a lot more responsibility than being the Company Commander. I have to say its hilarious to see him as  leader. He is definitely his father’s son. He has a look that makes people wilt but he’s smart enough not to use it often. Its new territory for me to see him mature and come into his own. Last weekend I celebrated my 41st birthday and was lucky to have my boys and DH make my day special. But I think that Jarrett being a senior made the day a little sad. I think of it in terms of a year of lasts. Its his last year in High School. Its my last birthday with him living at home with us. It’s the last First Day of Senior year. So many lasts that I am a bit melancholy. I am trying to be in the moment though, trying to be invested in every moment just like I did when my oldest son was a Senior. I am just sadder because this is the last one. The youngest son who has chosen a profession that will lead him to many corners of the world. He has decided to follow in the Footsteps of his Father and Grandfather and Great Grandfather before him. He is choosing to answer the call and serve his country (after college of course.) I swell with pride at the thought of him doing it but my heart is filled with fear for his safety. I hope you August is full of answers as mine seems to be full of questions. In Blooms Birthday Wishes...

Here's more of those gorgeous Papertrey flowers. This is another almost exclusively PAPERTREY. The In Bloom set offers the perfect opportunity to practice different techniques with your Copic markers. I saw this type of flower coloring somewhere but can't seem to remember where. Birthday Tea Style...

Good morning stamping pals! While this may not look like it in the photo my real life card pops! Yet again almost everything here is PAPERTREY. My DP however is from Hobby Lobby. This card inspiration came from another blogger who is a spectacularly creative gal, Dawn McVey. She created something that seemed to speak to me and out of that inspiration came this card and another similar to it that you'll see later. I hope you're able to draw some type of inspiration today.

Hawaiian Shores Butterfly Birthday...

As the end of June is upon us I am contemplating the fast approaching holiday. While its always been one of my favorites I am saddened at the thought of celebrating it for the first time without my dear Grandpa. He would have been 89 year's old and I am still struggling to deal with not having him in my life. It's probably affected my mojo more than anything else. The day to day things still get done but I find it difficult to sit and create something from scratch. I am using the sketch book that I created many months ago a la Michelle Wooderson, and of course the Papertrey and Splitcoast galleries. I hope your Fourth is a happy one filled with family, fun, food and friends. Onto the card...

I have been coveting this set that was created by the awesome Niki Estes and I've finally got it in my inky little hands, you can find it HERE. The detail that Niki worked into those butterflies is nothing short of stunning. I am using them to play a little more with my Copics and having fun with the shading and blending. Belated Rainy Birthday..

In celebration of the rain were getting today I thought I'd give you a peek at my rainy day belated birthday card. I just LOVE the DP I used for the raincoat. It's a paisley print that comes in several different color groupings. The dogs collar is blinged up with silver marker. It's super bright. I hope she inspires you to be creative today. Birthday Wishes in a Bikini..

This card was made for a friends sweet little girl of a good friend that requested it of me when we visited her a few days ago.. She was so cute.. she said " I'm kinda embarrassed to ask you this but can you make me a card for my sister's birthday?? I told her not to be embarrassed that I would love to make her one and to ask whenever she needs one.. She gave me colors and I came up with this.. Her sister is a sweet young lady celebrating her 15th birthday this year.. 

MFT Birthday Wishes

As I've said before I am a member of the Birthday RAK club over at SCS.. It is so much fun to send out the cards you make to other people who will appreciate them.. Fellow SCSers are always so sweet and gracious when you send them cards. I almost always receive a thank you of some kind from my fellow card makers.. I encourage you all to do the same if you are SCS members.. It's much more thrilling to send them out than it is to pile them up in your crafting space.. Another thing I have in the works is to donate some cards to the wounded warrior facility here in San Antonio.. DH works with the wounded warrior battalion and I am looking into donating a large bunch of cards to the Warrior and Family Support Center.. I figure that they can use them to keep in touch with family and friends while they're here getting care.  Now on to my card...

This card was made for my RAK pile and has already been sent to it's new home.. The recipient very kindly sent me a thank you. The DP is from HL. The image is of course MFT. I colored it with my colored pencils and gamsol.. still one of my FAVE techniques.. and the sentiment was created on my computer and stamped with my SU! punch. Hope you enjoy them as much as the recipient did..

Bella's Bright Birthday

 

This American Crafts DP is so gorgeous. I just LOVE it. I can't find it anymore and I am trying my best not to hoard the few sheets I have left. I keep telling myself that little theory I came across on Michelle Wooderson's blog.. ~use it you'll always find another DP you love~. I know she's right but it's hard to part with one that I love so much and that you have seen me use regularly here. The card specs are the same as yesterday's with the exception of the DP being American Crafts.  Hope your weekend is bliss.

Blinged Bella Birthday

Should a girl ever be without her bling? I think not.. here's another Cupcakeabella but this time she's all blinged out! I love that coral pink color that I put on her dress. It's bright and fun. The DP is one of my faves and you see it over and over here. I buy it in large quantities from HL. It's part of the Paper Studio line. As always I used my copics to color and nesties to cut out my main image and perfect layers for the matting.

This little moose cracks me up. He reminded me of DH after one of his chocolate indulgences. He gave it up for lent though.. man it's going to be a LONG 40 days for both of us. I gave up coffee. I am sitting here now with my eyes on my cup of Green Tea and willing it to turn into a coffee yummy. It's only a few days and I miss it already. Anyway.. I digress. Pink and Brown Bella Birthday

Is there a more perfect Bella to celebrate a birthday?? I don't think so. IMHO! If you haven't already guessed I like clean lines and not a lot of embellies. Eloise's JustRite Birthday Wishes

Eloise is probably one of my favorite bellas. I can't even begin to tell you how much I adore her. She is my go to image when it comes to little girls cards. I am stamping several sheets of her to create several dozen cards for the Keiki Cards site. She is colored with my Copics and cut out with my nesties. I used my JustRite to add a personal message and monogram. Of course her wings are sparkled and glitzed with Stickles. The DP is from HL. I adore Eloise and JustRite using them together is a blast.

Cupcake Wishes.. Birthday Dreams

Cupcakeabella is one of my absolute favorite Bellas. She is too stinkin cute!!.  I saw a card somewhere where they had left the dress white and colored the trim and bubbles like I did here and I thought it was striking.  I think that the dew drops may have been too much here. But I LOVE them so I use them when I can. The sentiment I created from Robin Leeches Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous. Corny I know! The DP is from Hobby Lobby. The cardstock is GP and DCWV.
